In previous articles on our blog we have explained the methods and tools of our service. Today, we’ll focus on the best and most famous league in baseball – the fully professional Major League Baseball (MLB), one of the most prosperous leagues in the world.
The league is divided into two leagues – the National League and the American League. They used to be two different leagues, but in 1903 they were merged. The regular season is played from April to September – about 6 months.
Each of the 30 teams in the league plays 162 games, divided into individual series of usually two or more games against the same team. It is not standard for teams to play only one game against each other. Teams are ranked in the table by winning percentage.
A total of 10 teams advance to the Postseason, as the playoffs are called. 6 of these are division winners, which will be supplemented by the top 4 teams (two from each league) that finished second or third and receive a wild card.
The American League and National League playoffs are played separately. The first game is played on the field of the better ranked team after the regular season. The wild-card holders play a one-win game first. This is followed by a three-game divisional series and a four-game championship series. It all culminates in the World Series, which is the final playoff game between the winners of the American League and National League playoffs. The World Series is played to four games and is a great celebration of the sport. The legendary winner is the New York Yankees, who have won 27 times. The reigning champion (2021) is the Atlanta Braves.

Common Misconceptions About Sports Betting Analytics
“Trust me, this system hits at 85% – I’ve back-tested it myself.” I cringe every time I hear statements like this. And I hear them a lot. During a recent sports analytics conference, a well-dressed gentleman approached me after my presentation. He pulled out his phone and proudly showed me a spreadsheet tracking his “foolproof” […]

A question I get asked almost weekly: “What’s your best bet for this weekend?” It seems like a straightforward question, but after 20+ years in this industry, I’ve learned it’s the wrong one to ask. The far better question – one that few people consider – is: “Which betting approach best matches my personal risk […]

I had an interesting conversation with a potential client last week. Successful guy, runs his own business, clearly intelligent. He’d been betting on sports for years and was proud of his “system” – betting against public favorites in big games. “The public is always wrong,” he insisted. “Fade the popular teams and you’ll make money.” […]
